Sauvignon Blanc
Carefully handcrafted and selected from a block on the riverbank of a secluded mountain valley in the Bonnievale region, Sangena is a unique wine, derived from vines cultivated in sandy, mineral-rich alluvial soils in the Karoo borderlands of the Western Cape.
This particular site benefits from cooling winds and a broad diurnal temperature difference of some 15–16oC, absorbing tremendous heat during the day yet cooling dramatically in the evenings, creating a rare micro-climate where the average February temperature is only 30.2oC.
This leads to slower ripening and healthy growth of side-shoots: tended entirely by hand in the finest regenerative farming traditions, the vines are topped twice or even three times in a season, their elegant wines produced from only free-run juice.
The result is Sangena: a delicately complex and refreshing Sauvignon Blanc, with green fig and apple undertones, soft, joyful, and bright with sunshine – a truly exceptional and truly South African wine for the discerning palate.
